The security of your account online is a shared responsibility of ours and yours. Learn about what we do to protect our shareholders, and find out what steps you can take to help protect yourself.

Steps we have taken at Dodge & Cox Funds

Dodge & Cox Funds encrypts the connection between your device and our website applications so that others on the Internet cannot read or intercept the information as it is transmitted. Our Account Access uses 128-bit encryption, which is widely used throughout the mutual fund industry. Shareholders can enter Account Access only if their browsers support 128-bit encryption. These technologies are designed to provide a high level of security and privacy for shareholders when they access account information.

Identity Verification and Two-Factor Authentication
When you register for Account Access you will provide certain personal and account information to authenticate your identity. You will also be asked to complete a security profile, and you may periodically be sent a one-time-use code to your mobile phone or email that must be entered online to complete certain transactions or to log in.

User Name and Password Requirements
When you register for Account Access you must create a User ID of between 4 and 32 characters, and you cannot use an ID that has been used by another investor. You will also create a password of between 6 and 20 characters that must include at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, 1 number, and 1 special character.

Transaction Dollar Limits
For your protection, certain financial transactions are limited in the daily aggregate dollar amount that can be processed online.

Timers, Last Login, and Page Logging
If your session within Account Access remains inactive for a period of time, you will be automatically logged out and will need to log in again in order to continue interacting with Account Access.

You will also notice when you log in that the Your Accounts page will display a "last login" date and timestamp so that you can monitor for unauthorized access. Please note, if you have provided your login credentials to a third party such as any service that aggregates your various financial holdings, you may notice login activity that is not attributable to you.

We will also maintain a log of the pages you visit during your Account Access session and record a snapshot confirmation of your completion of certain maintenance and financial transactions.

Access Controls
We employ industry-standard network access controls. Our service providers also physically secure the network infrastructure by employing administrative and personnel restrictions.

You can turn off Account Access Trading
If you choose to decline trading for your accounts within online Account Access, call Dodge & Cox Funds at 800-621-3979. Declining online trading privileges within Account Access will set your online account to "view only". This election will also limit your ability to trade on your account over the phone and any request in writing will require a signature validation in the form of a Medallion Signature Guarantee stamp.

Steps that you can take

Secure Your Computer
You can reduce your risk profile by keeping your computer operating system up-to-date with the latest patches and versions, by installing anti-virus software, and by using the current versions of modern web browsers. It is important that you take a moment to log out of your session when you have completed your financial business.

Monitor Your Accounts
You can quickly be alerted to any unusual activity by frequently checking your account activity online. If you see any financial activity that you do not recognize within your Dodge & Cox Funds accounts, please notify us immediately by calling 800-621-3979.

Public Wi-Fi
Free and public Wi-Fi can be convenient to use, but its use carries with it additional risks of "man-in-the-middle" attacks when the connection to the router is not encrypted. You should turn off file and printer sharing when you use a public Wi-Fi network.

Email Fraud and Phishing
Phishing is a method of attack where you can be tricked into giving away your secret login or payment information. Take special care when responding to emails requesting that you provide your personal information or ask you to visit a website to confirm your identity. They may not be from legitimate sources.

Dodge & Cox Funds will never ask you for your login, payment, or personal information via email.

Use Hard to Guess Passwords and Don't Share Them
Using passwords that include a mix of numbers, letters, and symbols will enhance your security online, and the longer the password the better. Do not let anyone else know your secret passwords, and try not to reuse the same password across multiple websites. Since secure and unique passwords can be difficult to remember, you may wish to use a password manager program to help you organize them.

Elect e-Delivery
By electing e-Delivery only for your statements, we can inform you when a statement is available online and you will not need to worry that the paper item could be lost or misdirected in the U.S. Mail. You can print additional copies at your convenience, and we will store your statements online for at least 7 years.

If You Believe That You are a Victim of Identity Theft
Despite our common best efforts, online financial fraud and cybercrime can occur. If you believe that your account has been compromised, you should notify Dodge & Cox Funds immediately. If you have been impacted by an identity thief, you should contact one of the three major credit reporting agencies (Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion) and place a fraud alert or security freeze and request a copy of your credit report. Immediately change your IDs and passwords for websites. Consider contacting the local police as well as the Federal Trade Commission to file a report.
